Steeping Guidelines

Steep for 5 minutes, 208°F 
For stronger flavor, steep longer.

For loose leaf herbal iced teas, use 3 tsp per 8oz glass and double the steep time.

ORIGIN - Guatamalan cacao with herbs and spices from around the world.


Cacao beans where so valued in pre-Columbian Mesoamerican civilizations that they were actually used as currency. Cacao "beans" are the pod-like fruit of the cacao or cocoa tree Theobroma cacao. Native to South and Central America, this tree has been domesticated for many centuries. Each bean weighs about a pound, and produces a few hundred seeds. Each cacao tree only produces about 20 beans a year. The seeds are crushed and processed into cocoa paste and cocoa butter, both of which are used to make chocolate and cocoa.

Our tea is made from the husks of cacao seeds that are leftover from the chocolate making process. These husks contain a hint of the chocolate flavors once inside, but do not retain measurable quantities of caffeine or the other bitter flavors of pure cacao.

The organic cacao shells impart a natural chocolate flavor to this infusion which is enhanced with additional natural chocolate flavoring. Organic fennel, organic cardamom, organic cloves provide spicy depth to the infusion and impart an intriguing character. We have added a touch of cinnamon and organic licorice root to create a natural sweetness to the tea and to add depth of character

In traditional Chinese medicine, cinnamon is used for colds, to aid digestion, and lower cholesterol. It’s also believed to improve vitality, energy and circulation.

Licorice root has an impressive list of well documented uses and is probably one of the most over-looked of all herbal remedies; it is used for many common ailments including tiredness, asthma, colds and flu.
